Our Fleet
Girdwood Fire and Rescue operates a specialized fleet selected for the unique demands of our service area. From structural fires and highway accidents on the Seward Highway to technical rescues and remote Alaskan terrain, our equipment is selected and kitted out to handle whatever the Girdwood Valley throws at us.
Fire & Rescue Apparatus
- Rescue 41 (R41) – 2024 Rosenbauer Commander 4×4
Our primary response unit, equipped for structural fire attack, vehicle extraction, and heavy rescue. 1,500 GPM pump, 750-gallon water tank. - Tender 41 (T41) – 2004 KME pumper/tanker
Designed for water supply and Wildland-Urban Interface Operations. 1500gpm with 2000gal tank. - Tender 42 (T42) – 2009 Pierce Arrow XT 6×6
Our water supply tanker for areas without fire hydrants. 1,500 GPM pump, 2,500-gallon water tank. - Brush 41 (B41) – 2004 Ford F-350 4×4
A wildland and brush truck for off-road and forest fire access. 150 GPM pump, 300-gallon water tank. - Rescue 42 (R42) – 2014 Ram 5500 4×4
A dedicated rescue vehicle for specialized and off-road operations.
Emergency Medical Services
- Medic 41 (M41) & Medic 42 (M42) – 2004 “Medicmaster” Ambulances on Ford 550 chassis
Both ambulances are fully equipped for Advanced Life Support (ALS), staffed by our certified EMTs and paramedics.
Command, Utility & Water Rescue
- Our support fleet includes several command and utility vehicles, including a 2024 Ram 3500 4×4 and a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. These are used to support backcountry operations, mud flat incidents, and snowmachine responses.
- For aquatic and mud flat emergencies along Turnagain Arm, we also deploy an Inflatable Rescue Boat.
