Safe and Responsible Recreational & Cooking Fires
Fire can be an enjoyable part of outdoor gatherings, but following the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) regulations is essential for safety. Before lighting a recreational fire, you must check the approved recreational burning notice on the Is Today a Burn Day? page to see if fires are allowed, and if they are, ensure you follow all regulations set out on the page.
Failure to follow these regulations can result in fines or legal action. You are responsible for your fire and liable if it gets out of control.

Illegal Burning Practices
The following activities are strictly prohibited within the Municipality of Anchorage:

🚫 Burning trash, construction materials, or debris
🚫 Use of fireworks
🚫 Open fires in municipal parks (unless in an approved fire pit or barbecue area)
